Spinneys is top of the shops
Food from Britain (FFB) has named premier Middle Eastern retailing giant Spinneys Dubai as the ‘International Retailer of the Year’ in its 2008 export awards.
Explaining the rationale behind the win, John Adams, Chief Executive of Food from Britain commented: "Spinneys Dubai has won this coveted award for its efforts and success in delivering
British products to the UAE – and making the listings work. As a result, many food and drink manufacturers have achieved great sales in this key emerging market. And with plans for further development in the pipeline, Spinneys is most definitely a retailer to watch in the future.”
Formed in 1924 in Alexandria, Egypt, Spinneys Dubai has grown into the leading premium supermarket chain in the Middle East, with more than 34 stores spread across the UAE including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. The company also manages 8 stores in Oman under the Al Fair brand and is currently underway with plans to expand in the GCC region. And with this area currently presenting more opportunities than ever before for UK food and drink exporters, now is the time to find out how it’s done.
Johannes C. Holtzhausen, Chief Executive of Spinneys Dubai will be giving the keynote presentation at Food from Britain’s annual Network Forum on the 10 December 2008 at the Landmark London Hotel and will give delegates a true insight into how the most successful Middle Eastern supermarket chain operates.
